In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the Nursing Department in accordance with current Federal, State, and local regulations and standards. You will work closely with the Health Care Administrator and the Medical Director to ensure the highest quality of care is maintained in a person-centered setting. Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department and its programs and activities.
- Delegate supervisory responsibilities and accountability to various disciplines and managers within the department.
- Ensure organized work order systems assigning responsibility/accountability to each job classification.
- Maintain current policy and procedure for the department.
- Involve Human Resources when interviewing and making any employment decisions including discharges for the Nursing Department.
- Plan for proper orientation and training of new nursing personnel and oversee nursing education.
- Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours.
- Chair professional staff meetings.
- Assess nursing care needs of potential residents prior to residency, when possible.
- Assist residents to adjust positively to new situations and in accepting their limitations.
- Ensure that proper clinical records are maintained on all residents.
- Supervise personnel in administering/preparing all medications and treatments.
- Confer with families of residents to help maintain good rapport and public relations.
- Ensure that quality care is maintained through a QA facility-wide program.
- Maintain the nursing service department’s budget.
- Monitor nursing care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be a Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Kansas.
- Must have prior experience in Long Term Care as DON or supervisor in healthcare.
- Must be knowledgeable of State and Federal regulations for nursing homes.
- Must have strong management and leadership skills.
- Must have the ability to relate with different workplace populations.
- Must be responsible, accountable and able to cope with diversity.
- Must function independently and be flexible with working hours.
Salary : $85,100 - $108,000
