The Assistant HRBP role at Kiewit will provide you an opportunity to support 400 people executing $700M in revenue annually in a strategic HR partner capacity, while participating in a developmental program that takes HR Generalists from other industries and transforms them into construction/engineering HRBPs. Under the direction of a Sr. HRBP you will have ample opportunity to make decisions and influence the business. Our shared goal is to give you enough on-the-job training to promote you into a fully autonomous HRBP in your own business unit, as soon as possible.

This position will report to a Sr. HR Business Partner and work closely with operations leadership teams. Primary responsibility will be to ensure HR execution and performance for the assigned business units. You’ll act as broker of services with HR Shared Services to ensure we exceed internal client needs, while leading various projects and initiatives as determined in the strategic plan.

District Overview
HR Operations is an integral partner and service provider at Kiewit. In recent years, we have gone from decentralized HR groups to a unified, shared service team, with various HR Centers of Excellence. Our vision is to be a best-in-class international HR organization.
Location
This position will work under a Sr. HR Business Partner in the Lenexa KS area for the first 6 months - 2 years. At which point, when it's time you will be asked to relocate to a different location that will likely be outside of the Kansas market.
Responsibilities
Human Resources Planning and Management
- Drive the development of HR related strategies and ensure implementation and execution
- Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices, trends and data points to drive enhancements
- Serve as a change agent by influencing key stakeholders in support of organizational effectiveness
Workforce Planning and Talent Management
- Development of succession plans and skills gap analysis, ensuring that they are consistently reviewed and that effective actions are in place
- Ensure coaching, feedback and performance systems are in place to maximize workforce productivity
Leadership Development
- Drive execution of leadership development programs and expectations to maximize workforce productivity
- Ensure leadership development needs are appropriately met (LSP, HiPo, 360, SLI, etc.)
Organizational Effectiveness
- Drive executive advising by providing support, insight and coaching to leadership teams
- Participate in strategic planning by assisting people planning needs and priorities
- Consolidate critical initiatives, goals & data points for future consideration
- Support District Business Planning by drafting tactical concepts/ideas to executing people strategy
- Finalization of people tactical plans & goals (Initiatives, Hiring Targets, KPIs, etc.)
- Assist with rollout and update communications of District plans and progress (District and Corporate)
- Work with operational leaders to consult on effective organizational design and optimize talent
- Ensure utilization of employee feedback surveys and monitor workforce (Onboarding, K22, Exit Interview)
Program Execution and Employee Support
- Serve as advisor to District leadership teams by providing insights, consultation, and support
- Act as a liaison with HR Shared Services to ensure the delivery of support to exceed internal client needs
- Provide feedback to influence the continuous improvement of HR services and processes
Department Management
- Provide HR support for District Management Teams (DOR, HR Business Plans, Mid-Year Reviews, etc.)
- Support HR team development, training, and exposure to front-line operations
- Drive HR budget planning, cost analysis and reporting for District related operations
Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive HR experience, with a working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field
- Ability to relocate for a promotion to HRBP with the first opportunity in 6-18 months.
- Experienced HR professional who can strike a balance between systems thinking, HR program execution and process innovation
- Ability to travel overnight throughout the US and Canada up to 25% of the time
- Ability to communicate and influence individuals and groups to gain buy-in and acceptance of new ideas and approaches
- Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships
- Great business acumen, strong analytical skills, and high attention to detail
