Agile Program Manager Job Description Responsibilities/Deliverables Program Planning Works with the cross-functional leadership team to facilitate resource planning – on a quarterly basis. This ensures that all products have teams that are staffed appropriately with named resources and time allocations. Facilitates the quarterly planning process, including the preparation work needed by PMs, POs, and SMs for effective QPs. Works with the Product Managers to ensure product roadmaps are visible in the tool and are appropriately planned in collaboration with the full product team. Identifies, analyzes, monitors, and suggests remediations for program risk. Elevates critical & high-risk factors to leadership team (including senior level). Program Execution Implements effective program governance: Facilitates program level events & sessions: Team Enablement, Leader Check-In, Steering Committee, and others as identified. Assures product-level artifacts (roadmaps, visions, backlog, objectives & key results) are produced and communicated within the product team and stakeholder groups. Works with Scrum Masters to ensure consistent agile practices across the teams (e.g., Team Enablement content process) Works with Scrum Masters to review metrics and assist the teams in areas of focus that will foster continuous improvement on the teams. Promotes team empowerment and ensures teams are fully engaged and continuously delivering value to the business. Supports the Product Manager & Product Owner in managing communications with stakeholders and customer expectations for deliverables. Continuously conducts program-wide risk & issue management, ensuring appropriate escalation. Acts as an escalation point for teams on impediments / blockers they are unable to solve without leader involvement. Oversees team plans and tracking of milestones, progress and changes – per the teams’ quarterly plans. Works with the teams and leadership when the quarterly plans are off-track and helps remediate. Ensures leadership participation. Prepares monthly financials and cost accounting. Program Communications Acts as an information hub at the program level. Prepares executive status dashboard (TBD on this process, pending process re-definition) on a monthly basis. Manages portfolio level communications and expectations. Acts as the coordination point between the program and the DTS Portfolio. Qualifications and Skills Required (essential for the job): 7 years' progressive career experience, managing technical programs and 5 years Scrum Master experience. In-depth knowledge and understanding of agile and scrum ways of working. Experience working in an organization that has scaled agile teams (formed teams of teams), such as SAFe, LESS, etc. Demonstrated ability to coach Scrum Masters on best practices, Ability to facilitate meetings with senior leaders and ensure they stay on track. Demonstrated success as a project manager for large IT projects in complex, matrix, multi-national corporate environments, executing across multiple time-zones and cultures. Must be a "super communicator", always striving to keep program / product stakeholders aligned and up to date. Ability to work in a virtual team which works across distance (remote), cultures and time zones. Preferred (not essential, but desired): Previous experience as a Release Train Engineer or Agile Program Manager Is familiar with a range of analysis, modelling and design methods; has broad current knowledge of IT standards, applications and trends.
