What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Administrator position at Kinder Morgan?
Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America. We own an interest in or operate approximately 84,000 miles of pipelines and 157 terminals. Our pipelines transport natural gas, gasoline, crude oil, carbon dioxide (CO2) and more. Our terminals store and handle petroleum products, chemicals, and other products.

Primary Purpose
- Administrative support for multiple locations including St. Elmo, Altamont, & Centralia, Illinois
- Time sheet review for employees at 4 locations, including tracking of holidays, vacation, short term disability, and other employee records
- Invoice preparation and entry into company accounting system
- Contract preparation and administration, issuing of work directives, and verifying proper insurance certificates
- Inventory management for 4 locations including issuing, transferring, and auditing stock parts. (Engine, Compressor, Pipe, Fittings, etc.)
- Ordering, receiving, tracking, and returning materials
- Assist the Operations Manager in preparing, tracking, and managing the operation and capital budgets. (Annual & Monthly)
- Maintain and update various company manuals, plans and procedures
- Data entry and tracking of monthly and annual reports such as budget tracking, gas lost, and training records
- Complete and submit various regulatory reports
- Participate in the Safety Program and maintain Safety training records
- Greeting and directing on-site visitors to the employees they are visiting
- Other related duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Education
- High School degree or GED required
- Certification, Licenses, Registrations
- A satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and a current, valid State driver's license are required
Competencies, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office products (primarily Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and other general computer skills
- Prior experience in office administration
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, prioritize, and complete work with a minimum of supervision. (Analytical, self-starter, structured, disciplined)
- Good conceptual skills that will allow company specific software to be learned and utilized quickly
- Ability to work in a team environment, providing support for multiple Supervisors. Ability to learn and function in a multi-task environment and meet deadlines
- Possess and maintain a valid drivers license, and driving record satisfactory to the company
- Able to occasionally travel to other Natural Gas Pipeline / Kinder Morgan facilities for meetings and training
- Take direction from various Supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules. Self starter and able to learn on an individual basis
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screen upon a job offer
- Core business hours are Monday through Friday 6:30AM to 4:00 pm with some overtime to be expected
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
- Associates Degree related to business administration or accounting
- Prior accounting or business administration experience
- 3 to 5 years experience in an office administrative management position
- Prior budget development and cost tracking experience
