Primary Purpose: -To provide technical guidance, problem resolution, design support and supervision for safe operation, maintenance and repair of natural gas compressor facilities focusing primarily on rotating equipment, controls, and facility systems, all in accordance with Company Standards. Relocation assistance may be considered.

Essential duties and responsibilities: -Provides leadership activities, plans, executes, and forecasts the maintenance budgets for area of responsibility
  • Ability to plan and coordinate maintenance personnel, contractors, and operations to accomplish repair projects.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Education: -Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree or 5-7 years equivalent level experience.

Experience and Knowledge:
  • Five (5) years supervisory maintenance experience with mechanical and pipeline systems.
  • Knowledge to provide technical guidance, problem resolution and design support for the operations and maintenance of natural gas compressor facilities focusing primarily on rotating equipment, controls, and facility systems. Types of equipment supported include reciprocating gas engines driving reciprocating compressors, gas turbines driving centrifugal compressors, electric motors, engine cooling systems, plant air systems, and other ancillary support systems.
  • A high level of understanding of plant control systems.
  • A high level of understanding of engine exhaust emissions and emissions testing requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and review equipment and facility performance identifying opportunities for improvement through developing of enhanced operating/maintenance procedures and equipment modifications, additions or replacement.
  • Knowledge and communications skills to provide technical advice and support to field operations personnel.
  • Experience to analyze equipment failures and develop corrective actions. Comfortable taking the lead on failure analysis teams.
  • Ability to work with plant management to identify technical training needs and assist in the development and implementation of training programs.
  • Develop business case in support of equipment modification (MOC), additions and/or replacements.
  • Ability to develop and or review project scopes. Individual will review drawings and engineering designs for new projects.
  • Strong trouble shooting skills.
  • Ability to lead a highly technical staff spread out at multiple locations.
  • Good computer skills to include specifically the ability to utilize Maximo, Comet, and company budgeting software.
  • Employee supervisory and asset management skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead toward operational excellence.
  • Strong customer focus in dealing with engineering, field operations and other internal and external groups.
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Required to work outside in all environmental conditions. Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions.
  • Will be required to carry a company-provided cell phone, available to respond to call-outs as required, live within a reasonable distance from call-out locations in order to respond to call-outs in a timely manner.
*Able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules. *Able to manage a budget to include tracking committed costs, forecasted costs, and actual spending.

Certifications, licenses, registrations:
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screen prior to hire.

Competencies, skills, abilities:
  • Good computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operating systems, and other company software).
  • Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage crews at multiple locations and multiple tasks on a daily basis.
  • Solid communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead towards operational excellence.
  • Strong customer focus in dealing with engineering, field operations, and other internal and external groups.
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Must be comfortable working with remote supervision.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize and adhere to established work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to perform the required and expected duties with little or no direct supervision.
  • Must live within the New Caney, TX area to provide reasonable response to callouts and emergency situations.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to withstand extreme conditions; will work outside in all environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to frequently: enter confined spaces; and climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Must be able to see, hear, walk and talk effectively.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

Working Conditions:
*Required to carry a company-provided cell phone/pager, and be available to respond during working hours, and non-working hours as needed. *Travel is required and anticipated as up to 30% on average, and may occasionally include out-of-town nights and weekend travel.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
