Summary:
Medical billers and coders play a vital role in the connection between health care providers, patients, and insurance companies. They are responsible for preparing, reviewing, and transmitting medical claims to insurance companies. They are responsible for making sure the medical office revenue cycle runs smoothly by following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle time frames, checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discounts.
Essential Functions:
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma/GED required. Experience with medical billing and coding preferred, including knowledge of billing related reporting and systems. Familiarity with insurance companies with the understanding of claims process, appeals process, and the impact of the practice’s revenue. Adherence to laws, rules, and regulations regarding customers and data. Comfortable dealing with numbers and the processing of financial information. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High degree of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
