Job Title: Swimming Pool Operator
Department: Base Operations and Maintenance
Job Summary:
The Swimming Pool Operator will ensure our swimming pool facilities' safe and efficient operation. This role will maintain water quality, monitor pool equipment, implement safety protocols, and provide excellent customer service to pool patrons. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of pool operations, possesses excellent communication skills, and is committed to maintaining a clean and enjoyable swimming environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain proper water chemistry by regularly testing and adjusting chlorine, pH levels, and other chemical balances as needed
- Operate and maintain pool filtration and circulation systems to ensure efficient water flow and cleanliness
- Conduct routine inspections of pool equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, and chemical feeders, and perform basic maintenance or repairs as required
- Perform and coordinate repair to pool equipment, pumps, and filters systems
- Monitor pool water quality, temperature, and clarity, and take immediate action to address any deviations from the recommended levels
- Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations and maintain accurate records of pool maintenance, water quality testing, and chemical usage
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, proper chemical handling, and adherence to pool rules and regulations
- Respond to and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a prompt and courteous manner
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, including skimming the pool surface, vacuuming the pool floor, and cleaning pool decks and surrounding areas
- Monitor and maintain inventory of pool chemicals, supplies, and equipment, and coordinate orders and deliveries as necessary
- Conduct regular inspections of pool facilities and identify any potential hazards or maintenance needs, reporting them to the appropriate personnel
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of pool equipment and furniture for events and activities
- Provide guidance and supervision to lifeguards and other pool staff, ensuring they adhere to safety procedures and perform their duties effectively
- Stay informed about current trends, advancements, and best practices in pool operations and safety
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
- Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
- Proficient Microsoft Office productivity suite
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of related experience required
- Certified Pool Operators (CPO) license preferred
- Experience in pool operation, maintenance, or related field is a plus
- Strong knowledge of pool chemistry, water treatment, and filtration systems
- Familiarity with local health and safety regulations related to pool operations
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
- Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
- Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
- Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be able to successfully complete a background investigation as required by federal, state, or local government
- Must have a valid state driver's license
