Job Description

- The remote learning teacher role will be funded through June 30, 2022
As a Remote Learning Teacher, you will deliver exceptional instruction and assess student growth. You are dedicated to constant learning and proactively provide academic and cultural support to your school and team. Remote learning teachers will work to engage, assess, teach, and support students over the duration of their quarantine and/or leave from their primary KIPP school. This role is one that calls for flexibility, ingenuity, and rigorous progress monitoring. Remote learning teachers will teach, occasionally design, and collaborate with KIPP Texas employees to deliver standards-based instruction that is anchored in the KIPP Heartbeat and aligned to our organizational goals, mission, and value. The remote learning teacher will provide all instruction in a virtual setting.

As a KIPP Texas Public Schools Teacher, your core responsibilities include:
Instructional Delivery and Assessment:
- Plan and execute year-long Texas State standards-based unit plans and lesson plans that meet all students’ learning needs.
- Use assessment data to modify short and long-term plans in order to promote all students’ academic performance.
- Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvement.
- Create a welcoming, positive, and safe classroom environment where every child is known and challenged.
- Prepare and execute rigorous, engaging synchronous and asynchronous lessons aligned with state standards and the KIPP Texas core curriculum.
- Uphold school-wide academic and culture systems and expectations.
- Implement frequent assessments and analyze student achievement data to inform and personalize instruction.
- Lead a daily advisory to achieve big goals through regular team building, goal setting and tracking, and serving as your advisory’s primary point of contact with the school.
- Work closely with a dedicated coach, quickly implement feedback, and attend weekly professional development sessions to develop your craft.
- Collaborate across the grade-level teams and other school teams, as needed.
- Exemplify KIPP Texas’ core values in all interactions with staff, students and families.
Academic and Cultural Support:
- Collaborate with content and grade-level teams to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
- Participate in the daily functions of virtual school such as morning, lunch, and afternoon supervisory duties.
- Virtually attend critical school events such as staff meetings, open houses, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Develop individualized learning plans for students and communicate these plans to families in parent meetings and conferences.
- Meet professional obligations including timeliness and consistency in meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrated knowledge of the core subject assigned
- Experience working with technology, including Google Drive and Google Suite
- Satisfactory outcome of a background check. Employees are responsible for a non-refundable fingerprinting fee (approximately $50.00).
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Educational technology experience (such as NearPod) preferred
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
- Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment, if applicable*
- Must be considered highly-qualified based on NCLB guidelines, if applicable
- A valid Texas Teacher’s certificate is required for all Pre-K4 and Special Education teaching positions. Proof of licensure will be required prior to starting employment.

Compensation
Salary is based on years of experience, degree of education, and level of expertise. A competitive benefits package is also offered.
Note: The Remote Learning Teacher role is not eligible for the Teacher Careers Pathway Program, or any additional stipends. The role is likely to be funded through June 30, 2022 but not more than two years. The role will be located virtually and will not require reporting to an in-person location.
Funding:
The Remote Learning Teacher will be funded directly from the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) grants awarded by the Texas Education Agency under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (ESSER II) and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ESSER III). This position will be funded solely (100%) from the ESSER II and III allocation for direct expenses through September 30, 2023, and may continue to be funded through September 30, 2024, depending upon the availability of ESSER grant funds. At the end of the grant period this position may be eliminated unless other sources of funds are secured to maintain this position or a similar position. The employee must sign this job description acknowledging receipt of the job description and signing their acknowledgement that this position is grant funded and is temporarily aligning with the terms of the grant period.
