Parts Manager Essential Functions
- Responsible for the quality, efficient, and profitable operations of the dealership parts department
- Manage inventory performance, accuracy, and obsolescence and develop strategies to improve service levels
- Monitor daily sales at the branch
- Effectively manage inventory turns and slow-moving inventory
- Effectively manage customer fill rates
- Manage parts inventory to include purchasing and expediting
- Supervise parts counter sales associates to include hiring and ongoing training
- Supervise warehouse operations ensuring shipping and receiving operations are operating at optimum levels
- Plan and attain short and long-term objectives in line with company goals
- Forecast and plan processes and procedures to maximize department efficiency
- Provide direction and leadership to staff
- Actively manage customer relations
- Create routine and ad hoc reports as needed for management
- Support company policies and procedures
- Exhibit professional demeanor in behavior, speech, dress
Parts Manager Qualifications
- Five (5) years of experience within the heavy equipment industry or similar experience in parts operations and parts sales
- Demonstrated understanding of financial reporting principles
- Supervisory and management training preferred
- Product knowledge including features and benefits knowledge of all commodities sold
- Solid understanding of pricing principles and discounting effects
- Demonstrated understanding of inventory control theory
- Working knowledge of warehouse storage layout principles
