Shop Foreman Position Purpose
Responsible for overseeing the shop's daily operations, including the safety and efficiency of the staff, equipment, and processes.
Shop Foreman Essential Functions
- Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
- Oversees the shop staff and equipment, ensuring that all operations are being carried out in accordance with company policies and safety regulations
- Ensures that production is running efficiently and that all materials and products meet quality standards
- Trains and supervises shop staff, providing guidance and feedback as needed
- Monitors the progress of projects and ensures that deadlines are met
- Troubleshoots and resolves any issues that may arise
- Implements new processes and procedures as required in coordination with the branch service manager
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of operations
- Ensures shop area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous or hazardous materials
- Ensures that the correct tooling is available and maintained
- Reads, interprets and composes work orders
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Shop Foreman Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diplomaor Equivalent
- Strong understanding of the industry regarding safety protocols,Industry terminology, and required documentation
- Experience in bestmanagement practicesand concepts and the ability to apply it in an acceptable and approved manner
- Exceptional Interpersonal skills and excellentcommunication skills
- Adept at organizing, planning, and task completion to manage a high volume of department paperwork
- Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and various web-based applications
Shop Foreman Physical Requirements
- Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying up to 50pounds without assistance
- Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
- Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold andwet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors associated with the shop
- Physical ability to perform maintenance on equipment for extended hours with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workday
- Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition
