Step into Your New Role
Kleinfelder is hiring an Area Business Manager for our East Division operations. The position is remote with travel to local offices as needed (10%) but we are open to having a candidate work from one of our area locations.
Position Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who is interested in providing financial support and guidance across the East Division. This individual will report directly to our Division Business Manager and will be a key business partner with the Area Managers. The role provides financial expertise and insights in support of the Area's strategic direction and works with area management using a team approach to drive improved transparency, performance and results as well as reinforce best practices throughout the areas. Major responsibilities include finance, risk management, major bid support, contract pricing strategies, financial analysis and reporting, cash collections, financial forecasting as well as management of the team, safety, and administrative needs of the area(s). Manages assigned staff. Works independently or in conjunction with senior management/ executive staff. Uses knowledge of industry and/or professional guidelines and protocols to accomplish goals and objectives and solve complex problems.
Experience:
- Contracts, financial reporting, project and internal controls, forecasting, analysis, process management, and technical accounting knowledge.
- Ability to work in a cross functional environment and build organizational relationships.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to make logical assumptions, draw conclusions from ambiguous data, to effectively reach a viable solution.
- Identify and champion productivity improvements through process evaluations.
- Ability to obtain buy-in with clear and concise analysis and presentations, including engaging in communication at the executive level.
- Capable of training Division resources to raise the level of commercial acumen about the business.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of organizational skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to manage and oversee multiple initiatives or assignments and prioritize projects and time effectively.
- Excellent skills with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint are required.
- Deltek Vision or similar software skills are preferred.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Division Financial Support:
- Contracts & Procurement
- Provide sound financial, commercial, and business advice to minimize business and financial risks.
- Financial, commercial, and strategic input to major pursuits.
- Review the pricing for all contracts to optimize project profitability.
- Oversee the disclosure and dissemination of financial information in response to RFPs.
- Evaluate subcontractor agreements to ensure compliance with client contract terms and conditions (e.g., flow down provisions) and company policies.
Planning & Forecasting
- Participate in strategic discussions with division management.
- In conjunction with the Division BM, direct the detailed annual planning process covering the overall operational P&L, manpower, working capital, and capital expenditures.
- Identify deviations from the annual budget through the completion of short-term and long-term financial forecasts and communicate recommendations for corrective actions to achieve the annual budget.
Finance
- Ensure compliance with revenue recognition accounting standards.
- Perform month-end and year-end financial closing activities for the areas under their management within the Division on behalf of Corporate Accounting and complete them within required deadlines.
- Support all internal audits as well as the year-end external audit performed by the CPA firm.
- Participate in other audits as required.
Cash Collections
- Responsible to work with AR collectors, division, and area management to ensure cash collections are expedited and client issues impacting timely payment are rectified in an expedited manner.
- Forecasting of divisional cash flow and identification of areas for improving the speed of collections.
- Management of other support functions required at the Divisional Level
- Coordinate and manage the support functions required at the divisional level.
Reporting
- Manage the process for consistently tracking and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) across the Division Area to effectively benchmark against appropriate baselines and external benchmarking data.
- Advise division management on monthly actual results as measured against the annual budget and periodic forecasts, and identify areas of immediate concern relative to deviations, risks, and opportunities.
Financial Analysis
- Perform analyses of business performance to provide insights into strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis) as well as profit margin improvements. Use data and trends to drive business decisions and adjustments.
- Perform financial analysis and evaluation of investments, including capital equipment and acquisitions, as necessary.
Other
- Participate in operational meetings.
- Responsible to work with the Division EVP, Division leadership and the Corporate HR Group to ensure that employee relations, recruiting and health and welfare programs are administered in an effective manner across all business units
- Responsible to work with the Division EVP, Division leadership and the Corporate H&S Director to ensure LPS stewardship is effective across all business units. Helps to analyze divisional trends and assists with loss reporting.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or other relevant background required. Master's degree preferred.
