Summary: This position is a training position designed to prepare the candidate for providing first level technical support, performing general maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and repairing computer systems and peripheral equipment throughout the organization. The candidate should have an interest in computing and network, and must have excellent problem solving skills and people skills. This position works under the direction of the Network Administrator.Typical Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are not inclusive of all duties. The applicant may need to perform other related duties as required.
The normal work week is 40 hours per week, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work, could be required.
Some physical labor could be required, involving working outdoors, lifting up to 70 pounds, reaching, and climbing ladders.
Special Requirements:
Current or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire:
- Responds to user requests for service and determines nature and extent of support needed.
- Installs, diagnoses, repairs, maintains, and upgrades a variety of systems, software, hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal performance and compatibility.
- Confers with vendors and peers to resolve problems.
- Provides basic backup support for Information Technology staff including, but not limited to, Local Area Network/Wide Area Network and telecommunications.
- Provides telephone and onsite technical support to users, or refers support problem to the appropriate staff member. Performs follow up to critical incidents and problems until resolved.
- Provides user support and training for Microsoft Office and other software.
- Maintains installation records and documentation.
- Works on special projects and performs other duties as required.
- Maintains knowledge to keep abreast of evolving technology.
- Complies with policy and procedures to ensure a safe, secure, and reliable environment.
- Ability to take direction, have an aptitude for learning technical details, and the ability to understand abstract concepts.
- Must have good verbal and written communications skills, and interact effectively with people.
- Must be customer service oriented in providing service to enterprise network users.
- High school graduate.
- Associate degree or experience in a technical field is preferred.
- Work experience in a customer service related field is desirable.
- Computer or other technical experience
