The primary responsibility of this position is to inspect products from components produced internally by 3 to 8 machine operators, while ensuring all quality standards are met. Incumbent must follow inspection QCI’s (Quality Control Instructions) and process control charts. Performs sample, audit, and 100% inspections as appropriate on in process and final parts. Incumbent will work under moderate supervision. Responsibilities captioned below are considered essential job functions:
- Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “ S ” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts
- Inspects various operations including: Turning, Milling, Drilling, Boring, Grinding, Shaping, and other operations specific to our product lines
- May use the following gauges: bore gauge, snap gauge, O.D. Micrometer, depth micrometer, scale, dial vernier, height vernier, dial and digital indicators, radius gages, protractor, thread gage, plug gage, surface plates, special checking fixtures, optical comparators, CMM’s (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and various gauging specific to our product lines
- Other duties as assigned; required being very flexible in their daily job assignments; cross-training is a must to assure this flexibility
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Communication skills, ability to read, write and comprehend instruction
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, walk, reach frequently throughout the workday
- Ability to lift items up to 25 lbs without assistance
- Knowledge of shop mathematics, i.e. decimals and fractions; Mechanical tools and measuring equipment including: shop rule, micrometers and indicators
- Ability to read and understand machine blue prints and GD T symbols
- In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities of the Inspector I:

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
General shop and machine tool noise, dirt, grease, and coolants from the operation of machine tools and assembly of machines and equipment. Normal working position is standing or walking through out the plant. Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed. The weight can range anywhere from 15 to 75 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
One year in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to interpret and comprehend plans and/or blue prints preferred.
