POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing customers with prompt, quality beverage selection, purchase, and preparation by managing the Barista team, performing regular Bartender tasks themselves, and cooperating with the rest of the front of house team and back of house. The barista ensures guests will experience a friendly, upbeat, and clean atmosphere.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Cooperate and have strong communication with the Front of House Manager and Kitchen Manager to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
- Set an example by showing leadership, addressing questions, concerns, and assisting where needed.
- Responsible for managing team and the following are performed by everyone;
- On time to work / dressed clean and professionally/ have updated information about drinks and service/ aware of what they need to prep and tasks during service / following house recipes / new employee training; including preparing materials and making sure they’re ready to prepare drinks and use POS / knowledge of current food & drink choices, brands, specialties, origin, taste, quality, and prep methods/ ensure service style and standards are met and guest expectations exceeded/ maintain a clean, organized bar and arrange glassware to create an attractive display/ require evidence of age of any guest who appears to be under the age of thirty (30)/ etc.
- Ensure prep and opening duties are properly done and on time;
- Cut fruit and garnishes to maintain necessary par levels / Replace and rotate draft beer kegs and soda/ Maintain par stock levels of wine, champagne, beer, liquor, non-alcoholic and perishables/ fills juices and batched cocktails / Restock from liquor storage / Prepare specialty prep/ etc.
- Ensure closing duties are properly done and efficiently;
- Fridges are fully restocked / supplies are stocked and ready for the next shift / storage areas are clean, re-stocked and well organized / wash and polish all glassware and supplies/ empty and replace dish bins and trash cans throwing out each shift/ etc.

BARISTA JOB FUNCTIONS
- Welcome each guest personally, including the hotel guests, and offer services and assistance.
- Ensure that each and every guest is served in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.
- Prepare and serve beverages such as but not limited to beer, wine and basic cocktails.
- Prepare and present quality beverages using a variety of equipment and utensils according to established recipe and presentation standards in the café.
- Describe details of menu items and new products to guests, suggest products that might appeal to them and answer any inquiries.
- Receive and process guest payments.
- Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, biscotti, and bagels.
- Stock guest service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items.
- Selling of gift shop retail products.
- Order, receive and stock supplies and retail products.
- Responsible for product quality and safety including but not limited to milk, pastry and fruits.
- Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and heating equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, service and seating areas, utensils, and equipment.
- Maintain personal health and sanitation standards based on health regulations.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation.

REQUIRED LICENSE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of experience as a barista is preferable, but not required.
- High school diploma.
- Hawaii food handlers card required.
- Hawaii Blue Card from Liquor Commission.
- Valid and Cleared TB Test.
- Basic Math Skills - add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

- Frequently lift up to 35 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
