POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the executive director and working closely with the board of directors, the marketing manager works on all marketing and social media initiatives of the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra (KJO), a non-profit organization. This will be a contracted, hourly position and can be done remotely. Hourly rate to be discussed and is commensurate with experience.
ABOUT THE KNOXVILLE JAZZ ORCHESTRA
The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra was founded in 1999 as a 17 piece jazz big band. In 2000, the group formed a non-profit organization of the same name to support the band’s activities and to promote jazz music more broadly through public performance and educational outreach. The organization produces roughly 50 events annually, ranging from ticketed concerts at the Tennessee Theatre, Bijou Theatre and Old City Performing Arts Center, Jazz on the Square summer series on Market Square Mall, free performances throughout the region by our honors bands for high school and middle school students (the Knoxville Jazz Youth Orchestra and the Knoxville Jazz Middle School Band), and the Knoxville Jazz Workshop on Saturdays during the school year.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and execute communications and messaging for the organization’s programs and related activities, including developing comprehensive marketing plans, media buying, copywriting, maintaining/updating web site, conceiving and/or overseeing production of printed collateral, and utilizing email marketing and social media.
• Identify and implement new ways to increase the visibility and reach of the organization.
• Develop and implement digital communications (social media, website, and email marketing) strategy.
• Collaborate with Executive Director to ensure proper scheduling/integration of all communications, and provide relevant content for newsletters, social media, and develop the marketing budget.
• Collaborate with external public relations partner to promote KJO activities and initiatives in the media. Help coordinate direct requests for media appearances/interviews.
• Collaborate on special events of the KJO, such as annual fundraisers, patron events, etc.
• Assist in the creation of effective and efficient show-marketing plans and participate in communications with artists and liaisons, as appropriate.
• Work on special projects, initiatives, promotions, and other programs as needed.
• Other duties as assigned
Salary : $40,900 - $51,800
