Job Overview
Manages the Inventory Planning and Control functions as well as all Warehousing and Material Handling functions. The inventory control function will involve responsibility for the Purchasing Department ensuring that inventory objectives are met and that material is available, when needed, for production. Warehousing will involve the establishment of warehousing and inventory control practices to ensure inventory record accuracy, proper protection of all inventories and optimum handling costs.
Key Job Responsibilities
Through the Purchasing department, responsible for all activities involved in managing vendor schedule control to ensure on time delivery, accurate system records and target inventory levels.
Continuously monitors and establishes inventory improvement strategies to reduce inventory levels and improve lead times.
Establishes company inventory plans and continuously monitors for corrective actions and improvements.
Establishes annual budgets for the Warehouse and Purchasing department and maintains the minimum expenditure.
Communicates with various departments and vendors as needed to resolve outstanding problems, or issues.
Develops and implements warehouse programs, processes and procedures. Establishes overall material handling plans including warehousing and material flow plans.
Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of warehouse and receiving employees.
Controls labor to achieve high morale, safe and best working environment.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Operations or related field and a minimum of five (5) years' experience in Purchasing and Warehouse/Inventory activities. At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
In-depth knowledge of purchasing, inventory and material handling techniques. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
Good oral and written communication skills Ability to handle multiple tasks in an organized manner. Patience, persistence and problem solving skills are very important. Accuracy and attention to detail are required.
Strong management ability.
Strong computers skills required, specifically MS Excel and/or Access. SAP knowledge is preferred.
