Job Description
- The purpose for this role is to support the business of our customers through efficient, effective and innovative science and solutions.
- Assist in the design, development, testing and implementation of science processes to develop tropical ophthalmological products to improve ocular health of patients
- Apply basic principles of scientific analysis to provide solutions to rudimentary problems arising within the department
- Performs polymer formulation, characterization and process in a research laboratory environment, under no or limited supervision
- Demonstrate the understanding in biomaterials, colloid chemistry and polymer solutions, and understanding of structure and property relationship of hydrogel and/or polymer solutions.
- Identifies and executes appropriate testing methodologies to evaluate potential new materials
- Uses relevant statistical techniques and methods to plan and execute experiments and to analyze experimental data; Documents experimental results details on all planned and completed experiments including raw materials, experimental plans and procedures, results, data analyses and conclusions in appropriate formats (laboratory notebook, memo and/or report) and communicate effectively to project teams.
- Be responsible to generate, review and approval documents such as batch records, study protocols, reports, and standard operational procedures
- Assist fabrication of GxP samples in cleanroom following established manufacturing procedures; knowledge of aseptic technique is required
- Manage lab used chemicals as outlined in MSDS, SOP and other company prescribed, state and federal guidelines. Also, complies with all company established Health, Safety and Environment operational requirements.
- Actively monitors patent and scientific literature for significant technical developments relevant to ocular health related products. Files all new material concepts through invention disclosures and support patent filings as required to protect intellectual property.
Skills
- Fluency in English required.
- Background in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical engineering, process engineering
- Formulation and process experience with hydrogel and contact lens care are desire
Must be able to write reports and communicate well to internal customers.
Education
Bachelors degree or higher in a scientific discipline with adequate and relevant experience (MS with 0-2 yrs; BS with 0-4 yrs).
