So What’s the Gig?
This position is responsible and accountable for ensuring machines are maintained to perform to Company standards. Responsible for programming, set up, manufacturing, and build of new injection molding tooling, tool repair, and fixtures. Position will assist as needed in maintaining and rebuilding injection molding tools. This role will lead the work of the Tool Maker team.
Essential Job Functions
- Program CNC mills and lathes utilizing Mastercam.
- Design, build and repair CNC and Production Fixtures.
- Follow processes and procedures while looking for ways to improve fixtures and cycle times.
- Troubleshoot and repair robots on machinery.
- Troubleshoot PLCs and navigate programming screens.
- Investigate issues and/or downtime related to our CNC mills and lathes.
- Review CNC programs and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for efficiency gains throughout the machine shop.
- Work with Supervisor to direct the daily toolmaker activities.
- Use computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to create and manage work orders, preventive maintenance, parts inventory, parts ordering, and vendor management.
- Coordinate and communicate work with outside vendors.
- Use lean/continuous improvements principles (5S) to standardize work areas.
- Build prototypes as needed.
- Assist with machine set-ups as needed.
- Follows standard operating procedure to build/maintain/repair/clean damaged or malfunctioning fixtures and molds.
- Follows standard operating procedure for completion of work tickets to manufacture products and parts.
- Follows standard operating procedure for set-up, programming and operation of manual mills, lathes and CNCs.
- Performs machine maintenance as needed or per preventive maintenance schedule
- Performs general clean-up and developing machine shop processes.
- May assist with troubleshooting and/or repairs needed throughout Operations with the maintenance team.
What We’re Looking For:
- Tool & Die Certification required
- 5-7 years’ Toolmaker experience required
- Proficient use of Mastercam required.
- Must be able to run manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, and CNC equipment.
- Must be able to use all measuring tools.
- Proficient using Solid Works, or other 3D CAD software, required.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Products; Word & Excel preferred.
- Maintenance experience preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing Experience preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities We’re Looking For:
