Processing Manager - Kreher Farm Fresh Eggs, Clarence, NY

Kreher Family Farms is looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Processing Manager for our Kreher Farm Fresh Eggs site located in Clarence, NY. The primary responsibility of the Processing Manager is to organize, streamline, and manage the processing, shipping & receiving and sanitation operations. This role manages the supervisors for the processing, shipping & receiving and sanitation departments.

The Processing Manager’s role focuses on four areas of responsibility:

CUSTOMER

  • Understand and perform role of servicing the customer through efficient and quality egg packing and shipping procedures which minimizes downtime of processing equipment.
  • Meet incredible customer service standards by overseeing packing and shipping operations and processing orders efficiently. Ensure stores are receiving the correct egg orders and quality product.
  • Track egg inventory levels to ensure proper product quantity and reprioritize product as necessary to prevent order problems. Involved in coordination of purchasing under-production or selling of over-production of eggs to meet customer needs.
  • Ensure that processing equipment and staff are functioning properly to meet quality and efficiency goals.
  • Continually develop knowledge of processing operations, grading procedures, and inventory to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality eggs.
  • Reduce customer complaints involving Food Safety or Food Quality.
  • Respond with a sense of urgency to any customer concerns.

QUALITY

  • Work directly with QA and Processing Operations personnel to ensure that products are packaged in the correct carton/cases and sent to the right store and/or plant.
  • Ensure packaging is meeting set standards; labeling of cartons is consistent with egg product; special requests from customers are met (i.e. special dates, numbers, etc.); reduce complaints regarding packaging.
  • Monitor products for valid dates (sell by, use by, and packaging dates), ensure product is correctly wrapped, stacked and placed in cooler inventory according to Kreher’s standards for safe delivery.
  • Oversee processing area to monitor equipment usage, supply levels, safety issues (water/debris), and inventory. Correct/resolve all problems.
  • Manage OvoTrack processing, tracking and traceability system.
  • Ensure documentation of all process and procedures are handled appropriately in compliance with all federal and certifying agency guidelines.
  • Work directly with Processing and Sanitation Supervisor(s) to meet or exceed our high standards as well as those set by regulatory and certifying agencies (SQF and FDA).

SAFETY

  • Coordinate with the Safety Manager to investigate accidents and near-miss incidents.
  • Enforce safe work procedures and inform Safety Manager of potential hazards.
  • Monitor employees and participate in the safe operation of lift jacks and electrical jacks, as well as loading and unloading trucks; set personal example.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to avoid accidents and encourages department to do the same.
  • Encourage employee participation in Safety Committee and safety initiatives.

PEOPLE

  • Communicate and explain company and department vision to employees.
  • Maintain two-way communication with management team to share knowledge and ideas.
  • Partner with other managers to implement company policies/procedures to ensure department is functional and incredible service standards are met.
  • Oversee department scheduling to ensure and improve labor efficiencies without compromising safety and quality.
  • Share department result with employees and ensure recognition of individual and team achievements, as well as provide specific informal and formal feedback to employees in a timely fashion.
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure employee needs are met and that they comply with Kreher’s Policies and work rules, as well as federal and state laws.
  • Lead by example by learning and educating others, and ensure employees have up-to-date performance reviews and receive feedback that is accurate, balanced, and fair, and helps them do their jobs better.
  • Provide feedback on training programs and look for ways to improve practices, including follow-ups with newly trained employees.
  • Act as a team player (supports and encourages employees) and treat everyone with respect.
  • Provide training within departments; cross-training and move employees to different areas as needed.
