Position Summary:

Provide strategic leadership to the organization (region) by leading the collective bargaining process, providing expert trust fund management and coordinating strategic employee communications, to achieve labor costs that allow us to be a cost competitive operator with engaged employees. Partner with the Division Presidents, Vice Presidents and H.R. Executives and G.O. to develop and implement the Labor Strategy for their assigned Divisions. Advise and support activities of the Division H.R. Executive in developing effective contract administration strategies, developing productive relationships with local unions(s) and developing trust fund roles. Knowledgeable in all facets of Taft-Hartley Pension and Health and Welfare and will take leadership roles in the various trust funds of the region. Additional responsibilities include Labor Relations successor development, labor related communications coordination, collective bargaining labor costing and interaction with peers in other regions. Role model and demonstrate the company�s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide strategic collective bargaining leadership.
  • Establish bargaining strategy, goals and objectives in consultation with Division management and G.O.
  • Chief company representative during collective bargaining.
  • Negotiate mid-term Letters of Agreement and interpretation of collective bargaining agreement.
  • Provide direction to the Division Presidents and Human Resources of the region.
  • Advise and counsel division on collective bargaining agreement issues as necessary.
  • Review and, in conjunction with the law department, approve arbitration cases or settlements.
  • Review National Labor Relations Board and other related administrative charges for handling labor relations matters.
  • Participate in division strategy planning meetings.
  • Provide expert trust fund leadership.
  • Serve in a leadership position as a trustee.
  • Serve as communication link with divisions related to trust fund matters.
  • Train and develop trustee successors.
  • Provide strategic employee communications.
  • Establish communication strategy in conjunction with Division and G.O., to support bargaining goals.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with Union and bargaining partners.
  • Coordinate communications across division lines and with peers.
  • Labor Relations successor development.
  • In conjunction with G.O. Human Resources, G.O. Labor Relations, and Division Human Resources, set forth development plans that will have ready, future Labor Relations executives for the company.
  • Work with divisions to assist with the costing of all collective bargaining agreements.
  • Organize division labor costing team for each collective bargaining agreement negotiations.
  • Work with Corporate Labor Relations to assure consistency.
  • Train Division management to expand expertise.
  • Coordinate with Division H.R. Employee Choice programs.
