Position Summary:

Provide customer service, stock merchandise, perform early removal breakdown, process sales, and maintain fixtures, displays, and signing. Role model anddemonstrate the Company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of self and others.

Fred Meyer also requires that all associates perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
  • Maintain compliance with divisional signing, pricing, recovery, ticketing, shrink control guidelines, and merchandising standards
  • Receive/process freight
  • Perform early removal breakdown and markdown procedures
  • Verify ads and promotions are set to standard
  • Process defective and returned merchandise
  • Conduct stock counts
  • Build ends and displays
  • Maintain compliance with planograms and composites
  • Process product deletions
  • Verify accuracy of price changes
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area
  • Answer telephones
  • Promote and follow Company initiatives
  • Sell products to customers; perform cashier functions
  • Respond to verbal customer comments/complaints
  • Hardlines:

o Order and maintain the Garden Center hardlines merchandise and power equipment; Build and maintain vendor relationships; Coordinate/organizemerchandising of the section; Maintain awareness of overstock/understock conditions

  • Indoor Plants:

o Maintain indoor live plant merchandise; Write and receive orders for indoor plants and cut flowers; Stock and maintain merchandise displays: water,groom, prune, and rotate; Perform housekeeping functions to maintain shopability and customer safety; Plan and prepare merchandising for holidays andseasonals; Provide information and sell indoor plants and products

  • Outdoor Nursery:

o Order merchandise and plant material; Maintain outdoor live merchandise and yard; Write and receive orders for outdoor live goods; Stock and maintainmerchandise displays: water, groom, prune, and rotate; Perform housekeeping functions for outdoor nursery area to maintain shopability and customer safety;Maintain outdoor live goods composite book; Assemble yard tools; Provide information and sell outdoor garden products; Prepare yard for seasonal yard sets

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus a minimum of six months Fred Meyer experience and/or six months retail floral/garden center experience; or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum 18 years of age/19 years in Idaho
  • Ability to pass drug test
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work weekends on a regular basis; overtime as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Accuracy/attention to detail
  • Ability to organize/prioritize tasks/projects
  • Familiarity with industry/technical terms/processes
  • Ability to work within set time frames and fixed deadlines
  • Fred Meyer lift truck certification/license

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure
  • Proficiency with current Company email and Report Management and Distribution System (RMDS)
  • Related retail experience: plant, floral, garden tool, fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide knowledge
  • Master Gardner's Certificate

The final rate of pay is determined at store level based on prior equivalent work experience.
