Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a skilled Purchasing Manager to be based out of our facility in the Scottsboro, AL area (Hollywood). As a Purchasing Manager, you will own the purchasing process and be responsible for implementing and supervising the purchasing strategy. Your role will include achieving productivity and project cost objectives, generating competitiveness in purchasing processes, managing risks, and guaranteeing quality and delivery of raw material parts.
Along with a background in purchasing / procurement in the automotive or manufacturing industries, the Purchasing Manager must have strong negotiation skills and experience.
Purchasing Manager Responsibilities:
Productivity:
- Responsible for productivity budget achievement through price negotiation, product optimization, consumption optimization, resourcing and logistic improvement
- Deliver the Productivity Action Plan, maintain TPS and T3P update in terms of productivity and forecast
- Liaise with suppliers to implement manufacturing cost savings (Product Productivity, VA/VE and cost saving)
- Work to deliver group requirements in terms of reporting and follow up (Use of TPS) and ensure financial reporting results are in line with company P&L
- Actively participate with the other departments on the search and implementation of productivity opportunities
- Perform Monthly reporting activities
Quality / Logistics:
- Manage supplier quality target achievement through 8D follow-up, top-offender strategy, and close relationships with the plant
- Achieve targets of PPM 6RM, PF4 Incident quantity of incidents per month and Supplier Quality Incident, and NQ cost recovery
- Mitigate and reduce logistics/supply chain disruption and avoid impact for the plant of such disruption (service rate)
- Strict follow-up of E-Top S40 process related to quality / logistics incidents
- Implement IATF standard related to S40 process
- Implement fast Response QRQC to supplier quality issues
Supplier Relationships:
- Establish and maintain good business relationship with suppliers
- Develop local suppliers to group and IATF standards
- Negotiate Quality, Cost, Delay and Payments terms
- Anticipate risk related to supplier quality, supplier logistic delivery and raw material price increase
- Sign legal contracts with suppliers
Indirect Purchasing:
- Coordinate Non-Production Purchasing for the plant with Indirect Purchasing team: cost reduction, implementation of corporate contracts/policy whenever applicable
- Performance reporting in TPS
Project Purchasing:
- Support project awards during Acquisition Phase with competitive cost and savings plans to finance project acquisition; seek and obtain Purchasing Organization validation
- Install competition between suppliers after SSR, bringing at least two suppliers at the same technical level before the SNC for all components, proceed with all negotiations before sourcing to push the cost down
- Leverage commodity organization to reach sourcing decisions and meet project targets, offset with supply base quick savings imposed by customers
- Achieve project purchasing index
- Support R&D with prototypes and pre-serial sourcing commercial negotiations
- Manage achievement of all project milestones related to suppliers according to APQP process
- Define and control communication flows and contents between project teams and suppliers
- Update all project purchasing standards

- Experience performing duties similar to those listed above would be a great start...
- Experience working as a Buyer / Purchasing professional (experience in the automotive industry is certainly appreciated, but any manufacturing environment is acceptable)
- Negotiation skills and experience are a must
- Experience working and communicating directly with suppliers
- Productivity / VAVE knowledge
- The ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Results-oriented, desire to learn, and ability to work well with a team
Salary : $77,400 - $97,900
