KVC Kansas represents one of the strongest and broadest child welfare and behavioral healthcare continuums in the nation. We are responsible for the care of all children who are served by the Kansas Department for Children and Families in the Kansas City Metro and East Regions. KVC is seeking an Assessment Worker to develop specialized assessments which emphasize both strengths and resources. While partnering with the KVC case management team, this position will also encourage families to take the lead in developing their own case plan.

Due to the unique needs of the families we serve, this role does not have a predictable schedule. KVC staff have the flexibility to manage their own time to create a positive work-life balance, but there will be evening and weekend work required as well as significant travel time to visit families in their homes. The use of company fleet vehicles is available for company travel.

KVC’s clientele represent diverse backgrounds and KVC is seeking to enhance and expand our diversity in order to better serve our clients.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a field licensable by the KS BSRB. Applicants must also have a valid driver's license and auto insurance. Experience with children and families is preferred.

The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Complete a Family-Based Assessment and required evidence-based assessments
  • Facilitate the Initial Team meeting within 48 hours of a family's referral
  • Assist with the Icebreaker meeting between the caregiver and placement resource
  • Assist in training and/or consulting on the completion/scoring of evidence-based assessments if needed
  • Facilitate the Safe & Connected Framework during the initial case plan
  • Assist in training and/or consulting on the facilitation of the Safe & Connected Framework
