Duties and Essential Functions

Budget Preparation for the Fitness Class program.
Manage Fitness Program:
- Work with outside company for securing instructors
- Teach my own regularly scheduled fitness classes in addition to filling in for absent instructors as necessary
- Teach & record exercise videos for resident television channel 95, aired 5 days per week
Manage onsite gyms:
- Safety of participants (with use of equipment & maintaining a safe gym space)
- Work with outside vendor for equipment maintenance and repair
- Maintain Health Histories for all residents. Create personal fitness programs for our residents based on their individual health histories and fitness goals
Responsible for:
- Fitness class equipment cleaning and ordering
- Locker registrations
- Resident complaint resolution
- Risk management issues
- Online signups – create, maintain online signups for fitness classes and pool usage
- Collect data and track residential use of the pools and land class participation, both for evaluating our programs and for contact tracing for COVID
Oversee the process of pool and fitness class usage and signups:
- 3 open pools (7 days a week 9:00 am to dusk)
- Manage a 70 resident pool volunteer staff
Organize, manage, conduct these ongoing events:
- Wellness Fair
- Healthy Eating Expo
- Fitness Expo
- Wellness Seminars
- Fitness & Wellness specialty classes
- Write fitness & wellness articles for month publication “The Palm Islander”
Wellness Fair – local financial, legal, health and wellness professionals (businesses, hospitals, practitioners) are invited to bring new information and/or showcase their services for the residents of Palm Isles.
Annual Healthy Eating Expo – this event starts with a healthy cooking demonstration with an invited guest chef. Afterwards, residents are invited to meet with nutritionists, sample healthy foods and smoothies from local restaurants, and participate in a variety of activities centered around healthy food and eating habits.
Annual Fitness Expo – in addition to watching live demonstrations of a sampling of our fitness classes, residents have access to a variety of functional fitness assessments. Based on individual assessment results I am able to make recommendations to help improve overall fitness and quality of life.
Seminars – secure and schedule local Doctors, therapists, health and wellness professionals to educate our residents on a wide variety of health and wellness topics.
Create and present wellness classes to enhance the quality of life of our residents. (i.e. Hydroponic Herb Garden Workshop, Posture and Balance, Epigenetics, Mindfulness Through Art, Weight Loss Support.)
Specialty exercise/wellness interactive classes – invite experts/teachers from a wide variety of backgrounds to conduct classes. (i.e. Meditation, Healing Circles, Nutrition and Life Coaches, kid’s week, POUND, Your Mind Can Make You Well.)
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will manage the fitness team.
Work Environment and Physical Demand - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
The job operates indoors and outdoors within a residential community. The work site will have moderate noise level.
- Must be able to traverse wellness facility and inspect all equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will be set by the work-site. This schedule may change to accommodate the business needs of the company”
Required Education and Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a variety of personalities.
- Thorough understanding of wellness and proper fitness practices.
- Ability to demonstrate or explain the proper use of all equipment
- Ability to teach various fitness classes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to produce effective and motivating presentations and training programs.
- Organized, with attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma.
- At least three years of related experience required.
