Essential Duties:
Responsible for the following duties, and training staff to assume duties as assigned while prioritizing excellent customer and donor service:
Sales Floor:
- Acknowledge guests and assist with their shopping needs.
- Create and promote store specials (daily discounts, raffles, overstock, holidays, etc.) in collaboration with social media team/delegating as needed.
- Provide fast, efficient and accurate checkout service.
- Promote upcoming sales or Special fundraising events through social media.
- Maintain neat and orderly sales floor, dressing rooms and check out areas.
- Replenish product as needed to keep shelves and clothing areas well stocked.
- Responsible for general cleaning and upkeep of store.
- Resolve customer complaints and maintain safe environment for all.
- Ongoing development of store staff on fundamentals of excellent customer service.
Production Area, inside the store and outside donation drop off areas:
- Receive, assist, and thank guests for their donations, provide receipts for donations and record all donations according to established procedures.
- Lift and move boxes and bags of donated items (up to 30–50 lbs.).
- Sort through donations and evaluate items for quality and condition.
- Price items according to established guidelines.
- Meet assigned production targets for each shift.
- Place clothing on hangers and items on racks, distribute according to size and type on the sales floor.
Online Sales
- Provide support to Program Manager in terms of e-commerce website product information, value and categorization of online merchandise.
- Support the building of auction sales and optimizing product listings (taking photos /catalog
shots of products and performing basic photo editing).
- Assist with writing copy, creating content and updates with goal towards SEO/search engine
optimization and sales.
- Maintain integrity and accuracy of content.
Supervision/Administration:
- Direct supervision to assigned staff; prioritize and assign tasks and projects.
- Approve selection of assigned staff, provide required supervision, write and conduct performance evaluations on direct reports.
- Create and maintain work schedules for staff including breaks and meal periods.
- Count and balance register daily, overseeing the delegation of this task to full-time staff if needed. Generate bank deposit and create change order as needed daily.
- Ensure necessary and mandatory training of assigned staff and volunteers is provided and completed in a timely manner.
- Mentor, coach and evaluate staff performance; implement corrective action when necessary.
- Assist in supervision to student interns, work-study students, and volunteers.
- Attend meetings and provide feedback to the supervisor as directed.
- Resolve routine problems encountered by assigned personnel in the performance of work assignments.
Administrative Duties:
- Count and balance cash drawer/s and log sales according to established procedures.
- Generate bank deposit and make deposits as assigned.
- Maintain all records in compliance with established procedures.
- Complete all required paperwork/documentation daily.
- Maintain an organized office area with files put away daily.
- Maintain inventory of brochures, handouts and printed items about La Casa and its services.
- Ensure proper use of register, provide ongoing training of how to optimize use of register to ensure accuracy of discounts and sales goals.
Training:
- Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Stay abreast of best practice when working with victims and survivors of domestic violence and their children and ensure services reflect those practices.
- Ensure all Thrift Store personnel have received domestic violence training and are fully capable of providing a trauma informed response to any survivors who may present or disclose at the store.
- Ongoing professional development including keeping abreast of recent trends and developments regarding domestic violence and advocacy as they pertain to the clients served by La Casa.
- Attend seminars and trainings approved by supervisor.
Additional Duties:
- Additional duties may include the ability to drive agency vehicle to pick up donated items including all rural communities surrounding Sunland Park, Hatch, Anthony and Chaparral, NM.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Assist donors with unloading items when needed.
- Pick up bags or boxes of donations from outside front area or lobby area to maintain clear paths.

Qualifications:
- Education: Associates Degree in Business Management or Accounting.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years full-time (can be volunteer or paid) extensive experience in thrift store retail and clothing sales or similar environment including at least one (1) year full-time experience in supervision and directing the work of others.
- Proven/demonstrated excellent customer service with a focus on going above and beyond customer expectations with a positive attitude, accurate cash handling and merchandising skills are a must.
- Substitution of education/experience: Substitution of education/experience on a one for one-year basis.
- Language: Bilingual in Spanish/English highly desirable.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Work requires frequent bending, lifting, kneeling, standing/walking. Lifting from floor to above head to stock shelves and lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly. May have the need to push and pull heavy furniture and other items in the store. When working indoors work environment is temperature controlled, when working outdoors is subject to various weather conditions including extreme heat.
Other:
Post-offer drug/alcohol screen, TB test and background check. Must have current COVID-19 vaccination record or qualified exemption prior to hire.
