WHAT WE DO
La Cocina is a purpose-driven multicultural and multilingual community mental health agency leading Latinx health equity and social justice in Colorado. La Cocina's services include a wide range of psychological and psychotherapeutic services for children, adults and families; as well as structured therapy groups and Charlas for adults and adolescents. Our teams provide trauma-informed mental health services to Spanish-speaking Colorado families living in six counties, including Larimer, Weld, Eagle, Summit, Garfield, and greater Denver.
THE OPPORTUNITY
La Cocina currently seeks a Bookkeeper to support the work of the agency's Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the administrative office setting and its processes. The Bookkeeper will work directly with the COO and be responsible for a number of administrative duties including bookkeeping, administrative support for human resources, vendor relationships, and supplies ordering.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for a series of tasks that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Complete bookkeeping tasks, in collaboration with the agency's third-party accountant, including:
- Accounts payables
- Posting and coding of costs
- Revenue posting
- Calculate and compile invoices on several platforms for receivables
- Manage billing and invoicing for grants utilizing data from a variety of sources
- Manage and coordinate executive communications, including coordinating calendars, taking calls, responding to emails and interfacing with clients as a way to streamline internal and external communications.
- Support staff with completing travel reports/reimbursements.
- Assist with coordination of events outside of the workplace, including fundraising events, staff retreats and trainings.
- Maintain basic familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and its operation.
- Interface with vendors e.g. landlord, accountant, payroll provider, benefits providers, leasing agents, IT provider(s), etc.
- Maintain supply inventories: monitor and anticipate needs, review requests, order supplies.
- Participate in human resources processes, including:
- Onboarding and new hire paperwork processes
- Welcome protocols and orientation to office
- Coordinate onboarding process with third-party payroll provider
- Create and maintain personnel files
- Monitor payroll and time-off requests and accruals
- Prepare and manage internal staff communications and required initiatives.
- Assist with or manage La Cocina's online donations system and donor relationships.
- Other tasks as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION
- Minimum of 1 years of experience as a bookkeeper including experience with A/P, A/R (including coding) and invoicing.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English, strongly preferred.
- Experience using QuickBooks online.
- Experience with payroll entry required; previous experience and knowledge of basic Human Resources processes desired.
- Aware and sensitive to cultural issues, specifically related to work with Latinx communities.
- Experience in small medical/clinical office setting a plus.
- Previous experience in business and/or nonprofit setting a plus.
- Previous experience with vendor and independent contractor account management highly desired.
- Independent, resourceful thinker with the ability to deliver on-time quality and complete projects and tasks.
- Demonstrated success in using multiple software tools; Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills; experience with Monday.com preferred; and/or the ability to become competent with software applications, as required.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with ability to multi-task.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent writing and overall communications skills, including written and verbal communications.
- Experience with memo and policy creation, editing, and proofreading.

WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS PROVIDING
- Expected hiring range of $19.25 - $24.00 per hour ($40,000 - $50,000 annually) based on experience

- La Cocina currently operates in a hybrid environment. This role will be required to work out of two offices: primarily in Fort Collins with periodic time from the Denver location with the possibility of some percentage of time working from home. It will also require periodic travel.
