Description
Manages the Food Safety & Quality teams, developing processes, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all state and federal food safety regulations. Leads continuous improvement efforts on Quality and Food Safety initiatives across the operational spectrum. Leads SQF program and ensure compliance with latest SQF codes. Manages audits by third-party inspectors.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversees the Food Safety & Quality program and team, ensuring products and processes conform to all internal and regulatory standards
- Ensures all state, local and federal Food Safety regulatory guidelines are adhered to and implements any process changes in response to regulatory changes
- Manages the USDA pathogen monitoring sampling program, product hold & release
- Implements and maintains a listeria environmental monitoring and control program, including corrective actions, record keeping, and reporting
- Functions as the liaison between the plant and the USDA
- Continually improves the quality and efficiency of all control and support activities
- Establishes, monitors all relevant product testing conducted in LTF and external lab
- Ensure food safety and quality training compliance for all employee
Manages the team, acting as influencer and leader with regard to the highest standards of Food Quality and safety
- Creates and cultivates positive work relationships with all levels of the organization and represents FSQ standards in integral ways, holding others accountable and instilling LTF values
- Enforces all safety rules and company policies and provide the appropriate interpretation of company policies for team members
- Encourages team members’ initiative and innovation, and show recognition by leveraging the available programs
- Ensures proper staffing, manages time & attendance in Paylocity according to internal, state, and federal regulations, provides feedback, instruction and coaching to improve individual and team performance, prepares performance reviews and corrective action forms as required
- Reviews time cards and ensures team members are paid correctly
Creates and implements SOPs and SSOPs, including those that address SQF, HACCP, etc.
- Develops standard operating procedures for Food Safety and Quality and Sanitation (SSOPs)
- Develops and implements programs, including training, validation processes, corrective actions, record keepings and verification of any and all plant systems in compliance with all state and federal regulations
- Seeks ways to apply new technologies and approaches to keep programs compliant, competitive, and effective
- Manages quality and compliance part of RedZone. Adds new modules to RedZone as needed.
Oversees supplier qualification and audit process
- Develops and implements SQM programs to ensure all supplied ingredients meet standards
- Vets new manufacturers via onsite audits to verify standards
- Review, monitor and maintain all ingredient and process control systems
Monitors and resolves consumer complaints
- Partners with customer service and marketing leader to resolve issues
- Takes corrective action and administers record keeping and to gain insight into product quality and consumer experience
- May stage a mock recall and traceability to validate effectiveness and accuracy of data gathering and record keeping
Continually surveys the environment for opportunities to improve FSQ and Sanitation programs and uses various feedback loops and method
- Uses various feedback loops and methods to identify patterns that must be addressed
- Partners with various operational team members to evaluate root cause and to determine corrective actions; represents any process change in all documents and communicate these to all appropriate parties
Performs other management duties as required
