The Validations & Reagents Technician will be responsible for assisting with studies to verify and validate new products and improvements to existing products following FDA design control and ISO 13485 requirements. This includes assisting in performing basic experiments for ongoing projects, making components and buffers needed for testing, and maintaining reagent stores for V&R and R&D. This position will report directly to the Validations and Reagents Manager, and will be working closely with R&D, Quality, Operations, and other areas as needed.
The schedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Follow defined protocols and procedures to execute design validations according to the applicable regulatory requirements
- Create reagents as needed
- Provide basic laboratory support, which may include cleaning glassware and maintaining databases for reagents used in verification and validation testing
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements:
- Associates Degree in biology, chemistry or related
- 2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience is required
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred, not required
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) experience highly preferred
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
