Duties:
- Work closely with other choir directors and musicians, and pastoral team to continually upgrade the music library and repertoires used in the service
- Shall demonstrate integrity through a moral, upright lifestyle consistent with Christian church teachings
- Must play their instrument of choice regularly on Sundays.
- Shall be responsible for all coordination, organization, preparation, and performance of the choir and congregational music selections as required to support the Contemporary Gospel Worship Service
- Shall be required to be present at least 20 minutes before each service or event starts
- Shall assist the CWGS Chaplain in coordinating music by special groups and choirs who are invited as guests at Chapel-sponsored events and services
- Special services are those services and/or events directed by the Wing, Deputy Wing, or CWGS Chaplain
- The ability to read music and demonstrated accompaniment ability with the piano, organ/keyboard, or guitar
- Must have Contemporary & Gospel choir experience and be familiar with the flow of Contemporary & Gospel worship styles
- A letter of recommendation from an ordained clergyperson is required as part of the application package. We also require two additional letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant’s Christian character
- Shall have at least five years of experience playing the piano, organ/keyboard, or guitar.
- Must possess sound accompaniment skills, competent sight-reading ability, play by ear, and be able to play music from various genres such as traditional, contemporary, praise, and worship. These competencies shall be affirmed in the applicant’s resume
- Shall have at least two years of experience directing and playing for church choirs in traditional hymns, gospel, and contemporary Christian music.
- Must be versatile and capable of performing in front of groups of any size. These competencies shall be affirmed in the applicant’s resume
- Shall be able to direct and or play for worship services, special religious ceremonies, and funerals as scheduled by the Senior Faith Group Chaplains of all denominations. These competencies shall be affirmed in the applicant’s resume
