This role reports to the Executive Director and is a key member of the Executive team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing and managing all Human Resource functions including compensation, benefits, employee relations and recruitment. The incumbent plays a vital role in the development, implementation, and communication of human resources policy consistent with the district's vision, mission, and values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Human Resources with demonstrated skill in recruitment, benefits administration, payroll, and employee relations.
- Superior interpersonal skills, proven ability to develop rapport with all levels of staff, employees, and outside business partners; excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to include presentation experience.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with payroll, posting sites, and applicant tracking systems a plus.
- Knowledge of all related labor and recordkeeping laws
- Familiarity with a public sector company
- Knowledge of compensation and benefit plan administration
- Knowledge of recruiting strategies
- Knowledge of payroll processing
- Familiarity with development of HR policies
- Ability to maintain and ensure the integrity of confidential information required.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- PHR/SPHR certification a plus.
Supervision:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the individual must be self-motivated and capable of initiating and developing tasks on a regular basis. The individual will perform projects as assigned by the Director. The employee is responsible for prioritizing work tasks, and for identifying and utilizing the appropriate resources to resolve a problem or situation and/or research and analyze specific data. Guidance is provided through departmental policies, Park District operating practices and procedures, and other resources applicable to the specific project assigned. Work is evaluated at least annually with respect to problem-solving ability, customer service, research and analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills, and performance in accordance with this classification standard.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is considered a sedentary position exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

Salary: $70,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
