The Lake Forest Police Department is looking for a reliable individual to serve as a School Crossing Guard during the school year.
Summary: Under supervision of the Police Administrative Commander, the School Crossing Guard will provide for the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assembles children and other pedestrians behind curb lines awaiting traffic lulls or signal changes. Stops traffic and escorts pedestrians into the street allowing them to cross safely. Instructs children in proper procedures for safe street crossing.
Working Conditions: Ability and willingness to tolerate a variety of adverse weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow. Must possess stamina to stand for long periods of time, repetitive use of hand signals to motorists and school children; mobility to escort pedestrians across streets.
Other requirements: Excellent interpersonal and community relations skills. The ability to work independently under minimal supervision and have access to reliable transportation.
This is a part-time position. Crossing Guard is required to be on duty for the following times: Monday 7:35 am - 8:05 am and 1:35 pm to 2:05 pm. Tuesday-Friday 7:35 am - 8:05 am and 2:40 pm and 3:10 pm. The bi-weekly rate for this position is $556.00 and is guaranteed for the entire school year with summers off.
