What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Maintenance position at Lakeside Foods, Inc.?
During the pack season, serve as a crew leader/mechanic for field operations. In the off-season, involved with the overhaul and repair of machinery and vehicles used in field operations.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Focus on working safely and working to keep those around safe.
- Responsible for the efficient operation of the pea harvesters, sweet corn pickers, and any other equipment used in our planting and harvesting operations.
- Maintain all equipment in good repair.
- Responsible for the preventative maintenance, adjustments and repair of field equipment.
- Utilize harvesting procedures that generate maximum crop recovery and quality.
- Train and supervise all employees on crew.
- Train employees in the safe, proper and efficient operation of equipment to which they are assigned.
- Transport crew to work location using a company vehicle.
- Repair/overhaul field equipment during the off-season.
- Assist in the planting of crops.
- Enforce Company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in accident investigations.
- Maintain work area in clean and orderly manner.
- Must have and maintain a clear driving record.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Adhere to all Lakeside Foods policies and procedures.
- Notify Management immediately if any unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions are discovered.
- Must be able to learn and understand computer controlled systems.
Knowledge:
- Should have two to three years experience as a Field Mechanic or equivalent. Knowledge of the operation preventative maintenance and repair of field equipment would be useful.
- Ability to read and interpret to documents such as safely rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must have strong inter personal skills to ensure good grower relations.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
