Job Summary

Operates manual lathes and manual mills and uses precision measuring equipment to produce GRE gaskets, steel core gaskets, and steel Kamm profile gaskets as assigned by supervisor. Operates and makes incremental adjustments to CNC machines. Interprets written specifications, and work orders. Assists with the assembly of work. Keeps area clean. May perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives work orders or written instructions for gaskets to be made from supervisor.
  • Determines the appropriate material, machinery and tooling needed to manufacture gaskets.
  • Sets up and operates manual lathes and mills to manufacture needed parts in accordance with established procedures/specifications.
  • Operates and makes incremental adjustments to CNC lathes to manufacture needed parts in accordance with established procedures/specifications.
  • Determines the appropriate material, machinery and tooling needed to manufacture new/replacement parts.
  • May fit or assemble manufactured parts into machinery to assure proper fit and/or operation.
  • Maintains a clean workstation.

  • Ability to understand written/verbal instructions
  • Knowledge may need to be demonstrated through a written and/or oral test

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years in a shop environment including manual machine set-ups and CNC operation.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
  • Working frequently with average weights of ten (10) to fifty (50) pounds or continuously with lighter weights.
  • Good eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Ability to work in cold, hot and/or dusty environment, with noisy conditions.
  • Ability to operate machine tools where time exceeds the handling time.
  • Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds independently.
