Location city, state: Kent, OH
Hours: 3rd Shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Wage: $23.89/hr($23.59 during 30 day probation period)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a custodian role which is responsible for the maintenance of a safe and sanitary work environment and equipment:
- Maintains cleanliness of lunchroom, hallways, men and women’s restrooms, including sanitation of sinks, toilets/urinals, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing walls, windows, ceilings, doors, and vacuuming areas according to Custodial Work List. Duties also include maintenance of carpeting and vinyl flooring throughout the plant.
- Empties all trash containers in lunchroom, hallways, and locker rooms. Completes cleaning of offices, including vacuuming, dusting, windows, and emptying trash.
- Replenishes sink towels and refills soap dispensers, cleans sinks and drinking fountains in production areas.
- Maintains running inventory of cleaning supplies, hairnets, and paper goods.
- Assists with break relief as needed.
- Completes Master Sanitation Schedule as needed.
- Knowledgeable of the union contract, attendance policy, work rules, GMP’s, appropriate behavior in the workplace, safety, and all other policies/rules set forth by Land O’Lakes.
- Responsible to adhere to quality system requirements. Ensure that all duties are performed according to company regulatory policies for GMPs.
- Performs all other job duties in a safe and efficient manner. Comply with all policies and practices on safety. Report any safety issues or accidents immediately to a manager or supervisor.
- In accordance with the contract, depending upon operational requirements, the employee may be expected to work more than eight (8) hours per day or forty (40) hours in a given work week.

Required Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Required Qualifications & Experiences:
- 18 years or older
- 6 months of industrial manufacturing experience
- Experience communicating work order progress to supervisor and production operators
- Basic Computer Skills
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions and possess basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to work with Corrosive Chemicals.
- Ensures a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks
- Self-reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervision
Preferred Qualifications & Experiences:
- Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge in their functions and ability to troubleshoot and fix system issues is preferred
- Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team
- Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedule
- Demonstrates active participation in solutions and continually finds ways to improve processes
- Able to help trouble shoot mechanical problems
- Understand operating principles of food processing equipment
Essential Physical Requirements:
Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 55 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy machinery. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, face shields, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms such as chemical PPE’s, and other PPE’s as required based on job activity. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive and collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required. The ability to perform these requirements is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
