The HR Business Partner (HRBP) role acts as a strategic partner to management and as a liaison to HR helping to drive positive change and foster a culture of excellence, while delivering value-added services. The role is responsible for aligning HR initiatives with business objectives and business needs for assigned business unit(s). The HRBP supports the growth and development of the business and its people through targeted HR guidance and expertise and contributes to achieving business objectives through a focus on employee engagement and retention. Experience needed for the role Minimum of 5 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation, employee relations, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.   What you need to bring to Landstar Bachelor’s degree preferred Certified HR Professional - SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR or PHR, or ability to obtain within one year Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation and administrative practices Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite   Responsibilities Partners with management to assess and anticipate human resources-related needs Builds relationships with business unit leadership and participates in staff and other critical meetings in the business unit(s) Provides guidance and support in workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational restructuring Collaborates with department managers to evaluate promotions, transfers, and new hires Identify training and development needs Fosters strong partnerships between management and employees, ensuring a positive work environment, increased productivity and retention Consults with line management to provide HR guidance when appropriate, including HR policy guidance and interpretation Analyze HR data to drive informed decision-making and collaborate with the HR team to propose and implement best-practice solutions Mediate and resolve employee relations issues with fairness and professionalism.  Conduct thorough, objective and effective investigations. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) Identify training needs for business units and/or individual training/coaching needs, including follow-up to monitor success Stays informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory requirements; ensures compliance with relevant employment laws, Landstar policies, and partners with legal counsel as needed Why work at Landstar?Landstar relies on the expertise, hard work and dedication of our employees to exceed expectations of those we serve.
