Salary/Compensation Statement:
  • Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $49,054 - $71,938
  • New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years' relevant experience and education.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:
Two (2) years of post-secondary education or training with course work in media arts, digital arts, new media, or related digital design field
Required Experience:
  • One (1) years of general office experience
  • One (1) years of experience in media arts or related fields including computer operating systems, multimedia & design software experience
Licensure or Certification Requirements

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree in Media Arts, Digital Arts, New Media, or a related digital creative industries.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience teaching or working with students.
  • Experience with the community college environment and mission.
  • Experience with content production and management of websites and social media.
  • Additional technical support experience in creative technology industries, computer operating systems, multimedia software and production equipment.

Position Purpose:
To provide administrative support to the Arts Division, as well as provide specialized support to Media Arts and other CTE technology programs, spaces, students, faculty, and staff within the division. This position is responsible for the maintenance and organization of facilities, including technology maintenance; equipment checkout; grant administration; supervision of student workers; as well as purchasing responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
Administrative:

  • Provide information to students, including: curriculum, degree requirements, registration, departmental deadlines, college and departmental policies and procedures
  • Performs purchasing functions for the department within established college or departmental guidelines
  • Assist supervisor in tracking department budget, class schedule, hiring, tracking and approving payroll for work study students and models
  • Maintain a system for monitoring department projects and/or grant activities and timelines
  • Compose and edit correspondence, manuals, brochures, reports and handouts
  • Assist with handling confidential staff and/or student information and forms, track course syllabi and course outcome information
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students
  • Other duties as assigned

Technology:

  • Maintain Media Arts Equipment Checkout, including scheduling labor, inventory tracking and management, managing late fees, and maintenance of in-house content management systems
  • Prepare Perkins funding paperwork in collaboration with Media Arts faculty and Division staff and dean
  • Research, obtain, prepare and maintain supplies, materials and equipment; inventory as needed
  • Safely and expertly utilize equipment, tools, computers, software and media arts materials
  • Observe, diagnose and report on areas that are causing student problems in course assignments, teaching or lab projects
  • Utilize and maintain currency of personal computers and workstations, office and media arts software applications; may assist students in daily computer use
  • Assist with supervision and assignment of student workers
  • Assist in development and production of program events, conferences, promotions, and other activities
  • Refer students to instructors as needed
  • Serve as community liaison for donations of equipment and materials

Supervision Statement:
Works under the general direction of the Dean of the Arts Division who sets forth working procedures and objectives. Positions in this class are responsible for establishing their own work procedures and priorities within guidelines. Many assignments are self-generated based on a knowledge of work processes and results that must be achieved. Work results are evaluated periodically through observation to assess results obtained and for conformance to overall goals and professional standards. Review of work in progress is generally in the form of completion of tasks and resolution of problems.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Requires ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds as required by the position, use power hand tools, and perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.   • Computer copyright laws; knowledge of computer technology principles and capabilities.
  • Maintaining automated office record systems.

  • Convey and exchange technical information with programmers, hardware/software technical experts and users.

  • Evaluate and make revisions to enhance operating efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform analysis to generate required reports.
  • Conduct research, gather and organize information and prepare reports.
  • Develop budget recommendations for a supervisor.
  • Maintain budget and fiscal records and to produce cost projections and other fiscal or grant reports.
  • Learn, and then accurately clarify, interpret, apply and explain College and department policies and procedures to students and the public.
  • Plan work assignments and set priorities.
  • Work independently or as a team member.
  • Work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other department personnel, students and the public.
