Reporting to the Head of HS&E, the Process Safety Manager is responsible for the overall coordination and governance of process safety at the LANXESS El Dorado, Arkansas site, which encompasses three distinct production plants (Central, South, and West), as well as, expansive brine and well fields. The El Dorado site involves over 30 processes subject to OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and/or EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) regulations. Most processes are based on bromine chemistry or associated derivatives and include fire, explosion, toxic gas and liquid release, and combustible dust hazards.
This senior management / technical expert position provides critical, complex risk management and loss prevention support to the BU PLA El Dorado site. The position supports the success of the site through development of standards and strategies to ensure that process and operational safety risks are successfully managed meeting established regulatory compliance guidelines, and that the incumbent performs their duty in accordance with the principles of Responsible Care and the LANXESS HSEQ Policy and LXS internal technical requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 10 years relevant experience
- Senior Expert/Specialist that is well versed with in depth knowledge of U.S. OSHA and EPA process safety requirements. Lead PSM/RMP auditor experience is preferable, but experience participating in or co-auditing is acceptable.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution experience.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

- Strong written language comprehension and interpretation abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Previous management experience on a team in a manufacturing or plant environment setting preferred; Ability to successfully interact with diverse personnel (e.g., operator motivation and buy-in).
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent business and industry acumen.
- Familiarity with other HSE aspects (i.e., occupational safety, distribution safety, product safety/regulatory affairs, management systems, ISO/RC certification programs security).
- Knowledge and background in process safety technical application is beneficial, such as past experience with auditing, process hazard analysis, safety relief valve design review, dispersion modeling, and/or incident investigation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the chemical industry.
