Responsibilities
Specifically, this position:
- Performs explosive gas monitoring, methane recovery readings and spill prevention, control, and countermeasure inspections.
- Performs routine sample analysis, including field measurements.
- Keeps complete, accurate records, and maintains the landfill Operating Record.
- Performs administrative responsibilities such as completing regulatory forms, data entry and composing regulatory letters.
- Assists with purchasing for small projects.
- Performs special studies and projects as assigned and required.
- Ensures compliance with regulations for Landfill operations.
We Are Looking For a Candidate That Will
- Have digital literacy and use routine software and business application including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies and standard operating procedures.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
- Have knowledge of environmental regulations and reporting.
- Have project management skills.
- Use complex mathematical formulas and computer models to compute emissions and track ground water movement.
- Apply knowledge of groundwater hydrology and monitoring techniques.
- Apply the principles, practices, and objectives as related to solid waste in a Solid Waste program.
- Act as an official representative of the County in a professional manner with local, state, and national agencies and organizations.
- Organize material and present information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form.
- Perform duties independently without close supervision.
- Have experience with surveying practices.

- One (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education, from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Chemistry, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field required.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
