A Deli Shift Lead’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all food produced within the kitchen and front end is fresh, delicious, appealing, and properly prepared. A Deli Shift Lead will ensure that all sandwiches, juices, and smoothies are prepared according to instruction cards and customer requests. A Deli Shift Lead must ensure that food quality standards are being upheld for all deli products. In coordination with the Deli Manager, a Deli Shift Lead will help to promote a food company appearance by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to all Guests and fellow Team Members, and ensuring those they manage do the same. In the absence of the Deli Manager, the Deli Shift Lead will be the primary supervisor for the Deli Department. A Deli Shift Lead may supervise a team of up to 20 Team Members at any given time. A Deli Shift Lead may be expected to obtain extensive knowledge of Natural Foods and some basic knowledge of Nutritional Supplements including vitamins, herbs, amino acids, sports nutrition, food supplements, and health and beauty aids.
