Lavigne's IGA is looking to add to their growing team, we take pride in our Remarkable Experiences for both our Team and Customers. We are currently seeking applications for a Deli Manager for our Potsdam Grocery Store. We offer competitive pay with incentives.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of deli clerks
- Supervise food prep and cooking
- Coordinate catering orders
- Adjust daily schedule for shift personnel to ensure optimal efficiency
- Train and evaluate employees
- Ensure appropriate inventory levels
- Ensure high levels of customers satisfaction through excellent service
- Ensure proper execution and compliance with policies and procedures
- Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards
- Handle employee issues and coordinate improvement plans, and corrective actions as needed
- Knowledge of deli department cleaning and sanitation procedures and employee safety
Competencies
- Financial Management – responsible for profitability, expense control, labor targets, buying and merchandising and inventory control.
- Category Management and Merchandising – follow plan-o-grams to maximize sales, maintain accurate retail pricing and signage, maintain overall fresh look to the department, build and maintain rapport with vendors.
- Team Member Development – Interview, select, train, develop and counsel team members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover. Able to lead and motivate department and team.
- Demonstrates the Customer Commitment in how he/she approaches tasks, the work environment, co-workers, and, most importantly, when directing and/or motivating direct reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to complete projects at a high-quality level with little to no direct supervision.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail, Deli management, or other related fields
- ServSafe Certification (preferred)
- Customer management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to hear, speak, and understand English to respond promptly to pages for assistance, to answer telephones, and to be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers
- Proven ability to follow up on tasks
- Ability to take off-hour calls and report to work as necessary outside normally scheduled working hours
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts including, weekends, evenings and holidays.
Work Environment
The work environment conditions described below are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- The work environment includes frequently working on wet and slippery surfaces.
- The retail environment includes some use and handling of chemical substances and solutions, some of which could be potentially hazardous if label instructions are not adhered to or if mixed or combined improperly.
- Office environment including a laptop and tablet

This position is full-time, salaried, with pay ranging from $30,000 to $40,000, depending on experience.
