Pay Range
$76,080 - $94,440 Annually for the A07.1 level
$87,450 - $108,564 Annually for the A07.2 level
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have openings for Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian three-dimensional analysis (ALE3D) Operations Specialists to directly support the ALE3D group and the Livermore Computing (LC) user community. You will be an integral member of a highly dynamic team and will work with technical staff, respond to internal and external partners, apply general knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices, develop, improve, and implement work activities. These positions are in the Weapons Simulation and Computing (WSC) Program within the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Directorate.
These positions will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
In this role, you will
- Provide support to the ALE3D Project Lead and other members of the Computational Physics program.
- Maintain agreements and licensing information for offsite users, monitoring adherence to ALE3D policies.
- Manage access and authorize users to LC groups, banks, and machines and respond to questions and resolve day-to-day user inquiries.
- Coordinating and assist in executing meetings, workshops, and conferences of a technical nature.
- Maintain established databases, spreadsheets, and tracking/filing systems utilizing Confluence and Teams.
- Coordinate external visits, including verification of security clearances, preparation of an agenda, badging, and information dissemination.
- Update and author documentation needed by users.
- Support plans that promote and value inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability principles within the group.
- Recognize and support plans to promote and foster a culture of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability within the workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Duties at the A07.2 level
- Lead, implement, and manage LC users account authorizations to ensure smooth operations of high-performance computers.
- Interact with external ALE3D users to manage off-site account applications and disablements.
- Assess and identify user requirements and disseminate information to customers.
- Troubleshoot software problems and identify solutions through research and software modification recommendations.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Experience coordinating administrative and operational work activities and multi-faceted internal processes for the work unit and/or functional area.
- Experience interfacing with personnel at multiple levels of an organization and communicating technical information to users.
- Experience effectively applying good judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills to identify solutions and resolve issues.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a technical support environment, collaborating with others, and recommending process improvements.
- Effective customer service, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary to respond to customer needs, requests, and issues, and to maintain effective working relationships.
- Advanced knowledge of personal computers and associated software, including MS Office, with the ability to learn new software applications.
Additional Qualifications at the A07.2 level
- Strong knowledge of and demonstrated experience using Confluence and iWeb.
- Knowledge of and experience with Slurm and Linux.
- Experience coordinating multiple work activities, workflow, and multi-faceted processes with competing deadlines.
- Experience leading small to medium scale projects, including full planning activities and management of assignments among team members.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge in MS Teams, CAAS, LC-IdM, EZiD, and VTS.
- Demonstrated ability/commitment to promote and value inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability principles in the workplace.
