$29.23 - $36.29 Hourly

Job Description
We have an opening for an Environmental Analyst (EA) within the Environment, Safety & Health (ES&H) Directorate. This position will report to the Environmental Functional Area (EFA) Manager. You will contribute to analysis of LLNL’s operations and assist with tracking and trending progress toward sustainability requirements. You will contribute to development of reports, guidance, and recommendations to decision makers on environmental compliance and sustainability topics.
You will
Prepare detailed quantitative analyses under direction, as part of an integrated sustainability effort.
Participate in development and delivery of energy balance analysis, climate analysis, water management analysis, Site Sustainability Plan, Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Resilience Plan and other related plans and projects.
Interact with the primary technical contact for sustainability and the EFA Manager, reporting progress toward project milestones monthly and working and resolving hurdles in real time.
Analyze LLNL’s sources and current uses of energy and water, as well as estimating future demands, evaluating demands in the system, and recommending prioritized next steps that include resourcing estimates based on analysis.
Conduct complex environmental analyses and audits of operations and facilities to identify potential environmental issues and recommend solutions.
Maintain comprehensive understanding of EFA’s compliance areas, permits, procedures and best management practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
Bachelor’s degree in Physical, Chemical, Biological or Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience in sustainable operations, knowledge of sustainable systems, and lifecycle analysis.
Experience conducting assessment and inspection activities and performing quantitative and qualitative analyses.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate, interpret, negotiate, recommend, and implement actions/solutions for complex problems.
Demonstrated effective organizational skills with detail orientation necessary to handle multiple complex tasks and projects in a demanding environment with conflicting priorities, tight and changing deadlines, and frequent interruptions while providing high-level customer service, and good follow-through.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills to work independently as well as in a team environment with a broad cross-section of people including effective interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues with tact, discretion, and mature judgment.
Experience working independently and in a team environment with a broad cross-section of people and organizations.
Qualifications We Desire
Experience with data management, Python and Jupiter notebook, MatLab, or similar.
Experience with building automation system software (e.g., WebCtrl, Skyspark) and analyzing system-level building data.
Knowledge and experience using ArcGIS software.

Site 300
Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).
Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
