Who You Are...
As an LB Foster Fitter you will be required to lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble Grid Decking and Expansion Joints, Aluminum & Steel Rail, and less complex components, to include inspection of finished products..
This Position...
Reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for performing fitter duties.
Some examples of the work you might do includes...
- Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques
- Strong understanding of blueprints, drawings, weld procedures, weld symbols
- Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness
- Fits and positions parts in accordance with drawing specification, positions and secures holding devices and tack welds as necessary
- Assists other employees in fitting, welding, and positioning parts
- Sets up and operates plasma cutters and metal arc welding equipment to perform routine MIG welding operations
- Weld to AWS D1.1 and 1.5 standards
- Perform regular and basic preventative maintenance checks and tasks
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Completes final inspections of finished parts
What Do You Need...
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree/Technical Training in welding preferred
- 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting
- 2 years MIG welding experience
- Knowledge of commonly used welding techniques, procedures, symbols
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manual
- Basic math skills
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force consistently to move objects
- Ability to prioritize and use time efficiently
- A focus on problem solving, safety, and teamwork
- Ability to use hand tools, power tolls, grinders, drills, torches, and plasma cutters
