Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and efficiently
- Update and maintain employee information as it relates to payroll
- Process special and manual payroll as needed
- Answer questions and/or resolve issues related to payroll
- Ensure year-end tax information is processed
- Perform other related tasks and duties
Qualifications of the Payroll Specialist
- 2 years of prior payroll experience, preferably within a municipality or in education
- Payroll software processing experience; Heartland experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge of state and federal tax laws
- Advanced Excel skills
