POSITION SUMMARY:
Pharmacy Technician for LeeSar Centralized Pharmacy Sarasota
JOB DUTIES:
1. DEPENDABILITY & RELIABILITY:
- Identify and escalate safety issues
- Work to fill hospital pyxis orders via the provided software with a high level of accuracy
- Work with a team to prepare delivery totes multiple times per day, tie for security, and load on pallets for delivery
2. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
- The responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician include repackaging, picking, bagging, and preparing medications for delivery. Under the supervision of one or more pharmacists
- Assisting the in the day-to-day operation of the distribution center
- Maintain continuing education as required by the state of Florida for technician licensure.
- Complete employee in-service training through Paycom.
3. JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- Perform routine pharmacy technician duties with limited customer interactions
- Work with the companys Pyxis software to help manage inventory control, run reports, and maintain the inventory database.
- Assist in running unit dose packaging equipment for internal and hospital partners use.
4. QUALITY OF WORK:
- Fill hospital Pyxis orders on a daily basis with a minimum of errors.
- Maintain facility and related equipment in good working order.
5. ADHERENCE TO COMPANY POLICIES:
- Use the company software to fill partner hospitals orders accurately and follow the procedure for double checking each order.
- Identify and escalate safety issues
- Follow policies for attendance and report to work promptly when scheduled.
- Maintain security of medications at all times at the facility and in route for delivery until delivered to the final destination.
6. COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION & ENGAGEMENT:
- Provide courteous customer service when communicating with member hospitals, vendors, other departments, and peers.
- Display a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward the pharmacy team.
7. PRODUCTIVITY:
- Check documentation completeness and accuracy
- Restocking medications and related supplies
- Preparing and assembling medication delivery totes
- Work to follow Pyxis fill process with completeness and accuracy.
- Restock medication inventory from outside vendors as needed.
- Deliver medications to member facilities if requested (in absence of driving staff).
- Pass DOT physician exam for driving in order to carry out the above duty.
8. PROBLEM-SOLVING (CREATIVITY & INITIATIVE):
- Demonstrate a desire to learn and develop new skills.
- Assist with inventory control when needed. Identify expired products for disposal, destruction, or return to manufacturer.
- Offer constructive ideas regarding process improvement to leadership.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum of high school diploma with a preference of an Associates or Bachelors degree.
- Completion of a board certified Pharmacy Technician program (preferred)
- Maintain a license as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Florida
- Completion of all state required continuing education for maintenance of technician licensure.
- One year of related technician experience is preferred.
