This position requires:
High school diploma/GED; required
The cook is responsible for preparing the preparation of food to be served, complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. The cook is responsible for appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste and fraud.
In addition, he/she serves meals to consumers; cleans work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware according to Food Safety Inspections; unpacks and stores food and supplies according to food service departments procedure; and maintains kitchen cleaning schedule and kitchen temperature logs.

Work Environment
This job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. • 2 years experience as a cook in a restaurant and/or healthcare foodservice environment.• ServSafe Certification required. If applicant does not yet have the ServSafe certification, Behavioral Health Services of South Georgia (LBHS) will pay the exam cost for new hire employees one time. Cook must successfully pass the ServSafe exam within the first 30 days or the closest exam date, whichever comes first. If the cook refuses to take the certification exam, he/she will risk termination of employment. If the cook does not pass the ServSafe exam he/she will be required to retake the exam. If he/she is not able to retake the test to meet the 30 day window, he/she will risk termination of employment. In addition, he/she will be responsible for the cost to retake the exam.
