GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs all shipping functions, but main focus is checking and “releasing” orders in the shipping software

system.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Learn all OSHA Safety requirements for Shipping and Legrand.
• Ability to train new hires in current position
• Assist the department Supervisor/Lead/Manager in maintaining work flow (EX: Housekeeping, customer pick-ups, separating orders).
• Perform any other duties as required by the Shipping Manager/Supervisor/Lead to ensure realization of Departmental and Company objectives.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices, and perform in a safe and effective manner so as not to inflict injury to self or others.
• Inform the Supervisor/Lead/Manager on any internal and external issues with orders, product, or process improvement.
• Inform area management of any hazardous situations in the work environment.
• Cross training in 2 or more areas of the department.
• Assist with Departmental ideas (Safety or Process).
• Assist in clearing out the refurb area.
• Advise the Supervisor/Lead/Manager when supplies are running low in order to maintain stock (ex: Tape, stretch wrap, pens, etc.).
• Puller:

Utilize scanner to pull daily orders Determine whether the order is a GRD shipment or an LTL shipment Add and remove product from preset locations Use the pick log in order to track and maintain productivity Use shipping tables to pull product Stage tables pulled in the packers area Golf cart certification Pull product from other departments Load customer pick-ups by searching through the orders Deliver product to internal customers Doing Locator Audits in order to maintain Stock and Locator Accuracy Operate a powered Forklift/Powered Pallet Jack

• Packer/Rater:

Use the PSS software Ability to ship MANUAL shipments that have no specific order attached to product Learn and utilize the box sizes used for shipments Pack orders staged by the pullers Look at the individual orders on the table and match QTY’s and Part #’s Use scanner to upload picking ticket to the PSS software Use scanner to scan barcodes on the product to match the picking ticket When packing orders, INTERNAL Comments need to be reviewed for customer shipping information (EX: ADJ FRT, Mark on Boxes) Able to change manually shipping changes (EX: Address changes, Ship VIA) Advise the Supervisor/Lead/Administrator of FRT charges exceeding $300 Every package must be measured and weighed (especially if an item is being repackaged or banded together) Advise the Supervisor/Lead/Manager with discrepancies on DIMs and Weights so that it can be updated in the system If there are any discrepancies in dims and weights, the Manager/Supervisor/Lead must be informed When the order is packed, it needs to be rated. Switching the shipment to the rating screen provides UPS/FedEx labels that are attached to the proper packages When order is completed, packing must slip must be attached to the shipment Send standard size packages onto the conveyor belt for the Skidder, especially if the package needs extra tape and packaging If package is oversized, packer must take the product to the appropriate location (ex: UPS skid, FedEx Overnight skid, FedEx Trailer)

• Skidder:

Operates and controls the conveyor system Fill boxes on conveyor belt with packaging bubbles Slide the package through the auto-tape machine Verify label of each package to determine where it will be staged Wrap skids labeled FedEx GRD only and load into trailer Wrap and stage UPS GRD/AIR skids for carrier pick-up Stage FedEx AIR skid for carrier pick-up Stage/Load oversized packages to correct area Maintain the conveyor, tape machine, and bubble machine in working order. Advise if any of these machines are malfunctioning Assist pullers when needed Load customer pick-ups

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Ability to understand the computer end of shipping.
• Ability to speak and read English.
• Basic math skills.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience

Special Job Requirements:

• Ability to use a forklift (pass driving and written test)
• Ability to stand for entire shift
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
• Tolerate a non-temperature controlled environment
