Requirements for Employment
- A Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing home, or other related health care facility.
- Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Michigan
- Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
- Current CPR certification.
Job Summary
The RN Nurse Supervisor will provide management support to the facility staff during the hours of 5pm-1:30am. The position will be full-time with every other weekend.
- Provide clinical supervision to all of the households.
- Provide leadership to nursing personnel. Oversee the daily schedule and assignments for RSAs and Nurses after the Scheduler leaves.
- Conduct annual job performance evaluations on assigned nursing staff. Supervises nursing staff and assists Human Resources in disciplinary actions when appropriate.
- Assure clinical issues are followed up as assigned or delegated. Communicates on a regular basis with the Director of Nursing and notifies him/her of problems or unusual occurrences.
- Review care plans for all elders on a regular basis. Inform and/or update any changes that need to be made to care plans.
- Be a part of the Survey process i.e. Roster, elder census and condition, quality assurance, monitor and rounds.
- Assist with elder assessments and coordinating or completing elder admissions, discharges and/or transfers.
- Collaborate with and assist the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Assist with MDS assessments with all households as needed.
- Coordinate and lead the 2nd and 3rd Shift Tier One Huddle process with nursing staff. Report findings on Tier 2 Huddle Board daily.
- Assist with implementation of All Staff education with 2nd and 3rd shifts.
- Be the on-site coordinator to investigate Incident Reports i.e. elder falls and abuse allegations. Communicate all allegations of abuse with the Abuse Coordinator immediately.
- Work the households as a floor nurse as needed.
