Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a payroll accountant to calculate our semi-monthly payroll, generate quarterly payroll reports, and perform other functions for our accounting team, such as GL reconciliations. This individual should be devoted to process--making sure every step is completed perfectly, every time, and to ensuring that documentation of the process is accurate and complete. This person should love being of service to their fellow employees by answering employee questions and making sure that each of their coworkers' paychecks is accurate every time. We need someone who will be discreet and work well under deadlines. When not calculating payroll, which we complete in-house using our ERP, this person will submit payments to our benefit carriers, manage payroll tax filings, and perform other accounting responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Using our ERP (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains) to calculate payroll in-house
- Maintaining our payroll process documentation
- Generating payroll reports for executive management to review
- Preparing payroll and tax reports for federal, state and local agencies when required
- Attending to payroll inquires from employees
- Answering accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Tracking and paying all payroll-related liabilities and changes thereto, such as medical benefits and 401k contributions
- Performing reconciliations and other accounting responsibilities, as assigned
- Preparing general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts for payroll/benefits
- Assisting in the management of external audits, reviews, and other tasks as assigned
- Growing in job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of two years' experience as a Payroll Accountant, or in a similar accounting role
- Highly detail-oriented
- Follows and documents processes meticulously
- Experience in preparing payroll and tax reports, as well as answering payroll inquiries
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
