Description
Summary:
The Shipper/Receiver position for LEWA America, Inc. - a subsidiary of LEWA GmbH Leonberg Germany / leading supplier/manufacturer of pumps and systems for various industries - must be able to handle all aspects of shipping and receiving responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment.
- Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
- Packages and labels shipments according to guidelines and specifications.
- Maintains accurate records and assists in inventory control.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- May operate lift truck, hand truck, and / or crane to move, convey, or hoist shipments.
- May direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
- May receive returned, damaged or defective goods.
- Contributes to team effort and communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Maintains a clean and well organized work area as well as ensuring related shop equipment is in good working order.
- Ensures customer satisfaction in regards to quality and timely service.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements
Required Experience & Knowledge:.
- High school diploma (minimum)
- Organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good Technical/Mechanical knowledge and ability
- Familiar with computer applications: UPS / FEDEX, online freight software, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP system (SAP)
- Experience operating equipment typical of a warehouse environment (lift truck, etc.)
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Shipping and receiving experience
- SAP experience
- Experience in a repair/machine shop environment
Salary : $18 - $21
